Maybe right now you are smiling a bit less, so what ? Is everything over ? Not at all. You have gone through some hard time, which is a regular part of our life. As a consequence, maybe you are a bit tired and not having the I’m fighting my demons and they are winning rat shirt but in fact I love this spontaneous smile. When I was a Junior in High School, I was very introverted. I actually still am, but I have been playing the role of being an extrovert so long, it comes naturally now. Anyway, I had done theater for 4 years and at the urging of my friends I finally got on stage my senior year. I had one line. But getting up in front of 300–500 people a night for the 4 performances we had, was a real wake up call. I realized that if I didn’t like my personality, I could change it by adopting a different “persona” and after a while it came naturally to go in and out of character and pretend to be outgoing. It took several years but my real friends know what I am really like.

I am so sorry that you hate your personality. I wish that you didn’t, because it definitely makes life much harder to live. I don’t know your age, but, from my experience, this gets so much better the I’m fighting my demons and they are winning rat shirt but in fact I love this older you get, so you have something to look forward to. I have agonized and felt humiliated over things I’ve said, but my social anxiety tends to be out the roof and I’m doing the best I can. I tell myself that. I am doing the best that I can in that situation. With practice, I’ll get better.
